Barn Conversions

Development of a barn conversions to create a fabulous home in the countryside is for many a mere dream. Existing barns in some great rural settings provide an opportunity to realise those dreams. Class Q permitted development rights appeared in 2013 which, subject to compliance with various regulations, allows some agricultural buildings to be used as residential properties. This may encourage everyone to look at agricultural buildings in a different way. Even the most basic agricultural building could, through vision and careful design, become a fine home in the country.

More involved barn conversions that don’t meet the requirements of Class Q permitted development could still be successfully converted to residential use through full planning consent. As with Class Q, this is dependent on meeting certain criteria. Get in touch with us, as leading North Devon architects if you have a project in mind and would like to find out more.
