A Barn Conversion with a View! Another Planning Approval!
Following on from our recent blog post on how to get planning permission for a new home in the country, here is our most recent example of that. We are pleased to have received full planning approval for the conversion of a single storey agricultural building to a three bedroom home.

The barn is in a very quiet rural location near Braunton in North Devon, so not far from the surfing beaches but with a lovely southerly prospect and views over rolling fields. We have tried to make the most of that, so all habitable rooms enjoy the views.

The home will be entered centrally from the north side. The proposed layout places an open plan living / dining / kitchen on the west side of the entrance hall, with a master bedroom suite to the south and two further bedrooms to the east. This arrangement keeps circulation space to a minimum but also includes a utility room / back door cloak room and two bathrooms.

The structure will be clad in natural timber externally under a metal profile roof. This simple palette of materials maintains the agricultural aesthetic and provides a low maintenance façade that will harmonise with the rural environment. As Architects who specialise in rural design and planning, this approach is something we are keen to promote, so it is great to see that ratified with this approval.
