The Royal George is a 2 storey Grade II Listed Public House that sits in a wonderful position overlooking the Taw and Torridge estuaries at Appledore.
It had unfortunately fallen into disrepair, and was no longer trading when our clients purchased it in 2015. Our brief was to make the most of the site and setting, balancing opening up the floor plan and façades with sensitively restoring the listed structure.
By working with the local conservation officer, we were able to strip the building back to the original structure and open up the elevation to connect with the seaward views. That included adding a stunning glass conservatory on the first floor.
By modifying the layout we were able to add 3 new lettable rooms at first floor and a new suite within the roof space overlooking the water.
