Bableigh Farm

Modern steel-framed barns present a distinct set of opportunities and challenges compared to traditional stone or timber structures. This project involved a large portal-framed shed with an attached lean-to, which required careful intervention to create functional external spaces within the curtilage. By reconfiguring parts of the existing structure, we were able to carve out outdoor areas that complement the internal layout and enhance the sense of openness.

The design results in a spacious family home, with flexible living areas arranged to accommodate a variety of lifestyles. Open-plan spaces flow naturally, while more private zones provide quiet retreats, ensuring the home works for both everyday family life and entertaining.

The combination of thoughtful spatial planning and subtle architectural interventions ensures that the barn retains its original character, while offering modern comfort and adaptability. The end result is a home that balances practicality, flexibility, and contemporary barn-inspired living.
