PMA were commissioned to develop a master plan for an infill site at the heart of the historic centre of North Molton.
The scheme proposal is to create a high quality, low density residential development, that respects the existing context of North Molton and adds to the built fabric.
The proposals look to produce a development that is based around a green spine, which informs the main circulation and communal spaces in the proposal. By setting back the houses within their plots and providing a minimum of two meter wide pavements to each side of an over wide ‘road’ we have provided an open feel to the residential street, whilst still maintaining a human scale to the area.
By widening the streetscape, we have looked to open up the skyline thereby maintain the existing feel of the area, and affording the opportunities for views of the church tower, which at present cannot be seen from ‘Oakford Villas’.
