George Nympton

Garage conversion to new family home

The existing building was a detached property on the south eastern side of the village of George Nympton. The building was constructed in 1988 and It consists of a large store room (originally used a garage) and workshop on the ground floor, with a staircase leading to a studio and further store room on the first floor.

Our brief was to convert and extend the original building to form a new three bed family house.

As in all projects understanding the context is critical, and the conversion of a garage / store to a family house required a careful assessment of the local vernacular to ensure the proposed building fitted with the village style.
