Ilfracombe Rugby Club

New Club house & Media facility

Ilfracombe Rugby Football Club has a proud tradition dating back to 1877. The existing club house has served a purpose for many years but its size, condition and position are less than ideal.

Ilfracombe Rugby Club is a fundamental part of the local community. The club’s bold vision for the future is to create a new facility that will not only improve it’s standing in a sporting sense, but will also provide a long term revenue stream. At the same time this project will be a beacon for the town,a visible symbol of a positive future.

PMA were invited as part of a limited competition to respond to Ilfracombe RFC’s need for a new facility.

Having considered the initial brief provided, a modern two storey curved structure was proposed. The principal storey comprises the main entrance with the club house at the south and the function suite at the north end.

Both of these spaces have uninterrupted views of both the pitch on one side and Ilfracombe harbour on the other. The form of the building means sheltered terraces are incorporated into the seaward façade.
