Business & Humanities Blocks at Petroc

Concept design to revitalise college campus

Petroc has always been at the heart of learning in North Devon. However many of the original 1950’s buildings at the Barnstaple Campus were in need of attention in order to extend their lifespan and create teaching and learning spaces fit for the 21st century.

Following the successful award of an Enhanced Renewal Grant in December 2011, Petroc had funds available specifically to use in improving the physical fabric of its premises.

We were please to be invited to develop a feasibility proposal for revitalising the external appearance and organisational layout of the two main buildings on the Barnstaple campus. The focus of the proposal was to remodel the classrooms to allow effective teaching of current class sizes, and enabling sufficient flexible space to enable Petroc to grow over the coming years. This was combined with a proposal to upgrade the internal spaces to provide bright stimulating areas, with full ICT capabilities.
